WHAT IS THE 5 WEEK EXPERIMENT?

What is The 5 Week Experiment?

My husband is a very patient, loving man.  I am eternally thankful that I found a very dedicated, loyal, loving, handsy man who thinks I'm beautiful no matter what weight I am.  This is relevant because when I met him, I was very fit and thin.  I blame him for making me overweight (joking!) because he was so accepting of me in every shape and form and he constantly took me out for great dinners at nice restaurants.  Fast forward 15 years and 2 kids later, and....well, it all caught up with me.

Fast forward to March, 2014.  I am going to be a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding in April.  I have my dress and it does zip up...yay!  However, it does not look nearly as nice as it did when I was 15 pounds lighter (eek).  My husband, loving, supportive man that he is, informed that he had "a great idea."  He emailed me the following:   "I will eat whatever you want for meals from now through your cousin's wedding, and no sweets or desserts in the house."

I realize to some of you that this does not seem like such a huge sacrifice, but I'm married to an Irish man who thinks a hearty salad cannot be considered a meal and hates all soup (who hates ALL soup?).  He needs his meat and potatoes, hates sauces and only likes dry, boiled food.  I am Italian.  I love clean eating.  I love couscous and beans and all kinds of healthy food that he doesn't even want to look at.

So I'm seizing this opportunity.  I am going full-tilt.  I have an entire Pinterest board full of hundreds of recipes that I know I would LOVE but haven't tried because I knew he'd make icky faces or wouldn't eat it.

For anyone who thinks this is silly:  You're right.  It's absolutely silly.  We have a fun, happy relationship and we enjoy messing with each other.  This is just for pure fun and also a way to keep myself on track with healthy meals for the next 5 weeks.  I hope you laugh along with me and maybe find some great, healthy meals for your family!
